Finding and developing subterranean water resources in Wadi El Natroon, Monkhafad El Qatara and East Owaynat . Preparation of a collective unified gravity map in Egypt on behalf of the of Scientific Research Academy. Pavement of 3046 km of land in the Eastern and Western Deserts and Sinai for some strategic purposes, land reclamation, mining and tourism. GPC has also set up a Pollution Fighting Center in the Gulf of Suez in Ras Gharib, with highly qualified technicians and most recent equipment.

The General Petroleum Company (GPC) plans to commence the implementation of its exploration drilling program for the fiscal year 2025–2026, starting with the drilling of the GPO-1X well, followed by the GPD-1X well in the Abu Sennan area of the Western Desert. This comes as a continuation of the company’s successful exploration activities in the area, which include the GPS-1X, GPR-1X, and GPU-1X discoveries, and the ongoing utilization of artificial intelligence technologies to enhance exploration performance and results.
The General Petroleum Company (GPC) succeeded in adding approximately 350 barrels per day from one of the producing layers through the drilling of the exploration well GPU-1X. The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources praised the efforts made and the high success rates achieved in exploration, as well as the company’s progress in the use of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, which has contributed significantly to the success of these exploration activities.

The General Petroleum Company has made a new oil and gas discovery (GPR-1X) in the Abu Sennan area of Egypt’s Western Desert, producing 1,400 barrels of oil per day and 1 million cubic feet of gas per day. The discovery adds 2 million barrels of recoverable reserves and shows additional promising layers. This is the second discovery in three months, following the GPS well, achieved using AI-based technologies—reflecting the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy to boost production from Brown fields and enhance local output through innovation and modern exploration methods.

Under the Ministry of Petroleum’s initiative to boost output from Brown fields, the General Petroleum Company (GPC)
successfully restarted production From GPY Field in Egypt’s Western Desert after several years of inactivity.
Through new deviated drilling, modern seismic surveys, and advanced logging technologies, GPC unlocked new reservoirs
and achieved record production levels—approximately 1.5 million barrels of oil equivalent in three years, marking the
field’s highest output since its discovery in 1981.
During the General Assembly meeting of the General Petroleum Company (GPC) for the fiscal year 2024/2025, Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed the vital role of the company as a fully state-owned national entity in supporting the national economy and increasing production.
He explained that the company’s reliance on state-of-the-art technologies and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has contributed to increased production and the achievement of outstanding results. This confirms that Egypt’s mature fields still hold significant potential that can be unlocked by combining expertise with modern technologies, and he stressed the commitment to provide the company with full support.
In a related context, Engineer Mohamed Abdel Mageed, Chairman of the General Petroleum Company, reviewed the company's key efforts in applying modern technologies and AI to boost production.
He highlighted that the company successfully conducted unconventional re-exploration within old fields for the first time using AI, which led to two important discoveries in the Western Desert fields, GPS and GPR, with a total production of 2,700 barrels per day.
Furthermore, GPC added reserves estimated at about 62.4 million barrels of oil equivalent in a mature area where production had stopped for many years.
He also noted the success of a modern perforating technology trial that tripled well productivity compared to conventional perforating methods. This technique is the latest in a long series of pioneering technologies adopted by the GPC.
The company's average daily production reached 85,000 barrels of oil equivalent from all areas. Other achievements include:
* Adding a proven recoverable reserve estimated at 18 million barrels.
* Drilling 113 new wells across the company's various fields and areas.
